Control the Access to Desktop Properties

Sometimes you need to control the access to the desktop properties to disable the use of HTML wallpapers or the addition of a component.

There is a way to control them by enabling or disabling directly from the Windows registry.

Once you are logged in the Windows Registry (Start -> Run -> Regedit) find the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop

Here you should create or modify the following DWORD values:

NoChangingWallpaper - Is not allowed to change the wallpaper
NoAddingComponents - Adding Components is not allowed
NoDeletingComponents - Is not allowed to delete Components
NoEditingComponents - Is not allowed to edit Components
NoHTMLWallPaper - HTML is not allowed as Wallpaper

When one of these values has a 0 is off and 1 if its on.
